I think my gauge is shot. There's continuity to the sender and the sender's showing the right resistance at both full and empty. There's 12.4 v going into the gauge. Does anyone have any insight into replacing/fixing just the fuel gauge module? I'd rather not have to replace the whole combi unit.

North Hollywood Speedometer. Ask for Harmut.
I had North Hollywood Speedometer work on my tachometer. They did a good job but they're not cheap.
I might have to do something like this . . .

I might be doing just that, Ron, along with relying on the odometer. This seems like a winter project.
IIrc, the first VW's didn't have a fuel level gauge and came with a stick. I think it had level markings and a VW emblem on it.
That stick is brilliant. Unevenly-spaced hash marks with seemingly random numbers! Very 1960s.
That Retro Customs stick is neat. The only thing I would have added is 'SOL' at the very bottom.
