Installed a Brazilian speedster gauge set, wired the tank float, the gauge worked backwards tank float down was full...up was empty. That baffled me, I do know that the float is just a variable resistance ground so reversing polarity on the two float wires would not change anything. Lunch break and than it hits me.....bend the float arm 180 degrees, that fixed that.

Best troubleshooting advice I ever got was from a guy who knew me well enough to see my tendency to drive nails by bashing them over and over with my forehead. Don told me when I was a third year cub, "Sometimes when everything is burning down and there's $100K on the line, and you just aren't seeing the source of the problem-- a cup of coffee is the best thing you can do for the customer".
Excellent advice.
Ha! That simple? I took my new one apart and used the new parts to replace the bad ones. It worked, but it would have been a lot easier to just bend the arm.
