Is there anyone out there that has any experience regarding the new fuel injection systems available.

Mike Lawless runs a setup on his Renn Kafer ghia and I am looking to try the same type of setup on a 2110cc motor.

I know they are about $1500-$2000 depending on where you buy.

Any input it welcome
George,

good idea, I will give Alex a call. Lawless as well as a lot of the drivers in the Renn Kafer series are running motors that are pushing lots of ponies out of most obvious non-streetable motors with compression ratios in the teens.

I was also hoping someone reading this forum had some personal streetable experience with the EFI system on a larger motor.

Here's an opinion. Fuel injection is way cool, and the way of the future. But, dollar for dollar, there are a lot of other considerations. What are you looking at putting it on, and how do you plan to set it up. If you have everything else, maybe this would be a reasonable, low maintenance, high performance option.
One down side I have heard is that there is more options in the way of fine tuning a set of carbs with jets, transition ports, venturies, etc.

I could run fuel injection and plumb in some Nitrous too and really have a neat ride. Put those internal to the test. A little laughing gas when the finger is feeling the itch.
I hesitated to jump into this thread until I felt like I knew more about my own setup - my recently acquired used Speedster has CB Performance's Ultra Comp Fuel Injection system, installed by first owner (I'm third). I'm learning as I go, full of newbie ignorance, I just knew I liked the idea of it having FI. Its given me problems with hard starting and idling. I've done a lot of new-owner maintenance and replacing some parts but nothing seemed to help the starting and idling. Some FI troubleshooting gurus at ShopTalk Forum have given me advice, and I'm getting help directly from Alex at CB. Plus I've connected with a nearby dune buggy guy who has the same system. I feel confident the kinks will be worked out, and I'll let this forum know the results. ShopTalk has a separate "Fuel Injection" category, those who are interested could probably glean a lot from it, as well as getting info from the helpful folks at CB.
Ron I'm with you on that. I also have been looking into some Turbo systems Ajs and CB performance to mention a few. The hide away Turbo set up from CB uses a blow through set up and moves the Turbo down below the sheet metal to keep the engine compartment cooler. Moreover, after talking to the people at CB they say this system was designed for the 356-speedster kit. It is about $1000 more than Ajs but it really is a complete system. It also comes with a under dash F-I & Turbo controller so you can dial it in as you drive.
DS.
