There's maybe 1.5 feet from tank to tunnel steel line. There is a brass sock in bottom of fuel tank on the line (maybe if it hasn't corroded away). There's another 1 foot from tunnel to steel line that goes to carb and then another 1foot to carb. Put the fuel filter up in front of engine by trans away from hot stuff like heat exchangers. So 4-5' would be plenty.
Do yourself a favor and put in the Gates Barricade fuel line- much more impervious to ethanol fuel than the old braided Continental- and don't forget the good clamps, too
