I’m new and not very knowledgeable. I have a Bergman air cooled engine in my replica speedster. When the key is on but engine not started, the fuel pump makes a moderately loud clicking. Is that normal?

Assuming that you have an electric fuel pump that is perfectly normal.
Probably a Facet pump or similar. If the clicking and clacking is driving you crazy change it to a self-regulated rotary and never go back. It's like a Mazda rotary, it goes hmmmmmmm.
You can mount them on those rubber isolation mounts too. If the ******** Facet/Empi do plan on replacing it - they don't have a particularly long life.
my 65 tiger had the noisiest pump ever, behind passenger seat, open the small hatch and there it it is sitting directly above the muffler itself,,,sounded like a woodpecker on sheet metal...
