What is the best performance clutch and pressure plate application for 1776 duel carb setup? Is it better to go with spring or rigid?
3 rivets, 6 rivets or 8 rivets. Is more bettering this case?

Full circle, 6 pucks, 4 pucks, 3 pucks, Birge or Kennedy 1700lb, 2100lb, 2600lb. A lot to choose from in this market.

So tell us what you use and why?
And does anyone have a spread sheet with engine /hp/ pressure plate and clutch information?
This could be fun!!

David, why don't you as a specific question, like how much BHP, weight of the car, and how the car will be driven? The stock friction disk is good for most Porsche replicas under 170 BHP with a KP stage 1 (1,700 lb.) pressure plate. From 170 to 250 BHP I would use a KP stage 2 presure plate (2,100 lbs.) and a "Copperhead" friction disk from Art Thraen (regular lining on one side and six "pucks" on the other side - sort of half-and-half).
Sounds like the forum is right on the mark with the clutch combo setup. A stock clutch & PP with hold fine with a light car and small motor( assuming average HP). Stay away from the puck style discs, unless you are setup for the teeth chattering grab they can produce especially with say a Stage 3 PP. Daiken make a great disc and I think they even have a "gold" disc which will handle even more abuse. Berg has a nice disc which is a little more costly and I think Centerforce is another option.

A bone stock clutch should do fine, unless your 1776 is pushing lots of ponies (it can with big carbs, heads, cam, compression,etc..) and you want the drop the hammer when you want to do a little stop light drag racing.

Go with an inexpensive rigid disc (about $25) and a stage 1 Kennedy pressure plate (about $95). Good luck

Patrick
