HELP! i have a FAT Upright type 4 motor with A-1 Sidewinder exhaust. Exhaust tube is so close to the stock oil pump fitting...I can hardly get stock cover on. Need to run remote oil filter and cooler. Is there and expert? out there that can tell me whether I can run (successfully!) a remote oil cooler and filter line off of the stock cooler (tubes are capped now) outlets??

I had a '72 914 1.7L with big bore kit way back - I installed a remote oil cooler under the engine lid (above the engine). It was fed via a sandwich fitting that fit between the oil filter housing and the OEM oil filter.

Wolfgang...Thanks for the reply...I still need to know if the "in" and "out" source for the full flow (to remote oil filter and oil cooler) can come from any placebesides oil pump adapters? at cam shaft/oil pump? If not I will have to redo expensive exhaust system and a lot of engine tin....
They usually come from an adapter installed in place of the stock oil cooler and the oil filter is set up as shown in the pic of my 2.8L type 4 engine. From the adapter block you can run a remote oil cooler. The filter as I have it should not be in the way of your header.
