Couple of pics of some buddies jumping the ice road a couple weekends ago. The guy in the red is over 60! Its windy and not too cold today and supposed to be all weekend. Civic holiday this afternoon for Cariboo Carnival so after the obligatory stint there with my grandsons I'll be out kiting. Thankfully its light out till almost 9 pm these days,

This ice road is across Great Slave Lake. It's wide open with islands here and there, easy to see any oncoming traffic. The young guy jumping with his skis crossed did jump over some trucks on the road that day. To me that's not too bright.

We were also going up over some of the islands and the guys were getting air off some of the cliffs but I didn't get pics of that. The guy in the red shut down that fun for a bit when he put his kite in a tree there.

We then all stopped, pulled out the folding camp chairs and had a lunch of smoked arctic char, cariboo and a few beers and then continued for another hour or so. Life is tough.

You can see why I never get the work done on the Speedy.
That's da shit right there. I want to do that. Here we have HUGE tracks of land that this would be awesome to do. Last year there was a guy that was having fun and although there is a slight slope went miles downhill and turned and came all the way back UP....

Snow disappearing here quickly, still on the mountain but this was a record warm summer and driest. I think there's going to be some serious forest fires this summer unless things turn around..

Mike,

I LOVE those door hinges on the little red car. Would be just right for the Hoopty. Also, keep that toy close to you as Cory collects such stuff too, and he might just do something regrettable to get his hands on that one. I'm just sayin' . . .

Down this a-way, the dudes use the kites to surf, often in the ocean proper, but also back in the bay water down by the shore. I have often said the same: I want to do that!!! But wonder if I could? I am an old phart after all.[Hey, the guy in red is 60+, and so am I.] But maybe you can start out slow, w/ not so much breeze. Maybe one day I'll try. I've done windsurfing a little and that was not too hard to at least figure out how to go out and come back.

Rave on!!
Kelly, kiting is a lot easier than windsurfing. A lot. And a lot less strenuous. I saw pics in a kiting mag of one of your presidential candidates kite surfing, name was Kerry I think. However, a couple of years ago in Portugal I got dragged out to sea by a current and it was too rough for a rescue boat so luckily I had the kite still in the air (lost the board long ago) and was able to body surf with the kite onto a nearby island. I then walked to the leeward side where a rescue boat was waiting. I might stick to lakes and such....

Mike, you'd love it! A couple buddoies just left for Norway where they do this in the wountains. Kite up the side, traverse the rifts, then down a side and off a ledge for air. I've seen pics, it looks crazy to me.
