Fuses

The fuse block on my 2001 VS is not labled. Does anyone out there know which does what? The lay out is as follows (assume front of car is on the Right):

15a 20a 15a 20a 15a 15a

sorry, don't own a vs but you could do "process of elimination". Take them all out and one by one see what is available when you reinstall.

My 2005 VS came with an 8 page "manual", however, there is no mention of fuses in it.

I am glad that someone brought up fuses... I need to add a fuse a good fuse box. The one that is installed now does not have fuses for every electrical connection and I am afraid that I will fry something.

Where should I look to get a fuse box? Anyone have a spare lying around?

I would like to change my fuse block out for the popular baonet gm type fuses. My fuse block is marked, but in Portugese. I like the idea of the glow fuse.,when one blows you know which one it is. I think the next visit to a good guys show will be in order for a new block.

Odwagerty - I have a fuse block that came with a VS wiring harness. Its the old VW ceramic fuses though - off hand I forget how many fuses it had (either 8 or 10?). It can be used to replace what you have or as an add on. Welcome to it for cost of shipping from VA. I bought a hot rod fuse block with the mini-spade fuses but it isn't a simple swap out. p.s. My VS harness came with a wiring diagram --- I'll scan it and post to Knowledge center. It would be useful addition to an Owner's Manual.

I obtained a Vintage Speedster build manusl (in the absence of any documentation) there is a clear diagram of what fuses work with which
lights in there. If you will email me with a fax number I will be happy to fax that page to you.-----Jack

I thought I had posted way back. If its a 6 fuse holder its:
1 - brake switch/light
2 - light switch
Above both switched to key on
3 - flasher
4 - wiper/horn
5 - light relay
6 - bright light on cluster guage

Its from a hand drawing furnished with a VS harness

Won't you need 2 of the CB blocks to have both switched (by ignition) and non-switched circuits?

Wolfgang... believe it or not, this is the first time I read this thread since I posted. Sorry I never got back to you... I would have done that deal. I still have not installed a fuse box, but I certainly hope my writing skilz have improved. I did not realize I was such a MORON!

I ended up selling the entire VS harness to another SO - IMO 6 circuits is not enough and no sense in keeping 30 year ceramic fuses. I went with a Painless (ha,ha) wiring harnes with 12 circuits (ok some I'll never use for intended purpose). Its still in box but actually hope to start wiring this weekend if it isn't 20 degrees in garage.

Wolfgang - 'still-in-the-box' is also the status of the 'intermittent wiper switch' I planned to install on the Speedy. One of these days...
