I noticed yesterday I had some gas leaking out of the fill hole. I was driving fast and hit some bumps so the front end was bouncing some. I may just need a new gas cap to get a better seal. The current one has a vent. My question is, do I need to replace the existing with a vented?

Do you have a vent hose (usually 1/4" nipple with tubing)? If NOT then a vented cap is needed. You can put a one way breather fitting on the vent hose or a big loop in hose if that is causing the leak.
There is a vent hose, but I can see the gas leaks around the cap seal and not the vent.
If its VW filler neck and gas cap you can get a new gasket for $5.

Check diameter as they are different depending on donor tank.
