"don't worry I have thick skin."
Ok, Ben . . . here's what I'd do . . .
First, decide on the color of the finished car. Lets say black or anthracite or silver to go with the modern "what if the Speedster were produced by Porsche today" look that you have already.
Harken back to the various Porsche and German specialty tuner's takes on the updated Speedster and bounce off of them in order to keep your "factory" look.
Lower dash painted gloss black or anthracite. Upper "pad" covered in thin black ostrich leather with a thin ( 1/16 or 3/32) brushed/sanded aluminum rod bent tightly fitted into the "break" line between dash and cap. Hold this in place with stainless dome top torx head screws.
Counter sink all of your gauges to the same depth, paint the pointers bright blue, and the bezels gloss black.
Cover the gauge surround with carbon fiber "look" 3 mil vinyl and secure to the dash with a slightly larger counter-sunk screw that you used on the aluminum rod/trim.
Place a carbon fiber covered toggle where the flasher switch is, with a "start" button beneath, and move the key to the left side of the dash.
Detail the steering wheel with a touch of blue to match the gauge pointer and a little aluminum to kick off the dask trim.
Mount an aluminum Ray-Dot style pedestal rear view mirror on the top of the dash.
Mount a semi-flat black "Speedster" script on the far right dash, against the high gloss black/gray of the dash.
Keep all knobs in brushed aluminum against the dark gloss dash.
And you're DONE! and lookin' stealth fighter SHARP ! ! IMHO
