Hello to all, (and the madness continuous…)

With the Alternator Warning Light taken care we can now move to 30 year old Gauges in my car. My car is a early 1990’s model manufactured by CMC. It has the 6 Gauge Dash Layout (see diagram). Presently the Tach and Speedo are marginally working (they are moving and measuring who knows what), Oil Temp and Pressure seems OK, the Fuel Gauge is questionable, and AMP looks normal sitting at 0 and ticking to the + side now and then.

I have not investigated or tested any of the gauge’s anomalies as of yet, but the questions that will be coming up is; 1) Do I refurbish the Gauges that I have now? OR 2) Do I go and buy a new set and replace?  Many considerations need to be made as far as size needed (mounting hole size), sender compatibility, I would like to keep the appearance looking as original as possible, and of course $COST.

Please provide me with your wisdom that you all have accumulated over the years regarding the matter at hand, as always it will be greatly appreciated.

THANKS

If you choose to go with the three P' reproduction gauges, there's a lot of time doing body work and matching paint and if not done correctly the dash will crack where the old gauges were. On a few of the CMC's I did I bought 6 pc Shark / Dolphin gauge sets on eBay for about $240.   DOLPHIN 6 WHITE MECHANICAL SPEEDOMETER STREET ROD GAUGE SET WITH SENDER WHITE CH | eBay

If you decide to replace, this place lets you customize a bit. https://www.speedhut.com/gauges/

Vintage in CA and Special Edition sell replica 356 gauges made by Speedhut, but they will not fit your configuration.

Fixing yours might cost just as much as new ones. With the Speedhut gauges, the speedometer is GPS and, I believe, all their gauges have a life time guarantee.

When a scrape together enough dough, this is the route I'm going, and they will not look anything like what's "supposed" to be in my car. It's my car and I'll do whatever creams my twinkie.
