Run don't walk away from these clowns .....I know someone that bought one of their "new" motors, it blew at 1200 miles, tore it down to find two different makes of pistons and one was well used. End play was excessive, thrust bearing shot etc etc.

I'm in CA and I"ve never heard of GEM performance motors but I have heard of GEMVW

I had a senior moment, I was reading GEM as GEX who I was referring to.
As stated abvoe, I've heard of GEMVW, actually I know someone that owns one of their engines in his sandrail and has not had any problems.
Back in 1994 or 1995, I purchased a 2180cc long block from GEX when they were in Baldwin Park, CA.
That engine never missed a beat in my sandrail and after about 4 seasons, I installed it in a friends sandrail and he just sold that car with the same engine.. About 12 years of severe use and it still was ticking like a Timex.
Obviously, in later years the quality went down. If I remember correctly, GEX moved from Calif. to another state finally settling in Arkansas.

i've had my '78 IM in Jeff's shop on and off for the past two years as he has literally 'rebuilt' my speedster from the ground up...motor, trans, 4 wheel discs, elecrical to lowering it 'into the weeds'...i know some of you out there have seen and 'heard' my car...his schedule gets a little 'backed up' from time to time but is a very nice man...at last i heard he was furnishing some motors to JPS...

FWIW: my 2332 is from GEMVW via JPS. Only 900 mi so far, but looks like a good build; engine very strong.
