i am in the process of updating my recently purchased CMC. i would like to clean up the engine compartment. My mechanic advised that i could get rid of the voltage regulator if i switched to a Alternator rather than a generator. I also plan on putting dual carbs. Looking for some advice, please.

One of my favorite upgrades is the SVDA distributor with electronic ignition. No points to adjust or condenser to replace with tune ups. The power curve is so damn smooth it blows away the 009 distributor performance (which was designed for VW motors used as generators at a constant RPM). Get the distributor tuned on a dizzy-dyno to match your engine setup. Trouble free!
