My mechanic did a quick LOOK-SEE/2 week checkup after the optical points install to see how the car was holding its tune.....we went for a short ride with ME driving as he wanted to see me go thru the motions and he YELLED AT ME! "Drive the f*cking thing like a 911...its not a 58 SPEEDSTER you idiot, it just looks like one" he blurted.

He was a bit right and had me cranking away "properly" and not teasing it along like Miss Daisy.....I was being a bit in restraint, NOT wanting to blow it up, but the sweet spots are PORSCHE and NOT anything else. It's a 2.7/flat6 with fat WEBERS and meant to be driven........not a 1600(not that there is anything wrong with a 1600).

It was a wakeup call as despite my THINKING that I was pushing it...I really wasn't and I am more comfortable "DRIVING" it rather than "TOOLING" around in a 60 year old car. I am grateful for the driving lesson and the stern lecture

Learning something new.....

After I rebuilt the 912 motor, I was kind of going easy on it.  Found out that it actually runs better if I drive it like a rental car, hard and harder.  Hope we can meet up in a few months when I am on North Shore, would be cool to check out your ride.

Certainly...shoot me a message when you are in town. Your 912 a flat TYPE 4 2LITER? theoretically, according to those in the  know, its better to drive it a bit hard...keeps the oil flowing and prevents build up(?)

LIVE and LEARN...Porsche made its cars to REV and RUN.....apparently...MOST of us are seeing better running vehicles when they are churned to act in the spirit from which they are built. Remember Ferry and his boys were building their 4 CAMS so they could RUN AWAY from ADOLF when he would be certainly approach his LUNAR BEHAVIOR and they both succeeded...ADOLF in his bunker and FERRY in STUTTGART raking in MILLIONS
