So I picked up a pristine set of 73 911 seats today, figuring that I could get them to fit into the speedster. When I went to test fit them of course they do not fit, I need about 1/2 inch next to the tunnel and ~1 inch on the door side.

I know that I can cut/smash with big hammer the tunnel and get my 1/2 inch's. The big question is can I cut out the door sill, I would not touch the frame rails I believe. I need to take at least 2 inches out of the sill where theseat mounts.

First has anybody done this.

I really want these seats to fit, because they have headrests (high back and would keep me from hitting my head on the cage) and would be much more comfortable then the CMC ones that are in the car now.

If I can't mount these down low I might take the bottom pad and have it cut down ~4 inches and that would give me the space but I don't think that it would look right.

I have the original CMC ones already mountable.

Thoses seats have been in and out of the car more then a few times this week. I have been making templates for a carpet kit that I would like to make. I throw them in to do a test drive then pull them out to do a little fix here and there.

Plus all the sound deading going in and out. And being shifted around to get the most out of what I bought.

Biggest thing with these 911 seats are it will fit people with well a larger butts which will let my father drive, the cmc seats will not fit anyone with a 36 of bigger waist and be comfortable.

Getting a few more carpet samples this week so once I get those plus the squareweave samples I will be able to pick a interior color and get to stitching.

50% done with the viynl vector files, and need to decide whos going to cut for me or if I am going to buy a second hand plotter.
Those seats will not fit unfortuantely! You do not want to mess with the tunnel because it is the backbone and it serves a structural function. Structural tunnels can fail if creased. Look at it as a tube that once it has a dent, you can more easily bend it. You also do not want to mess with the seats since they are also designed with a structural frame that will also fail if you mess with it. Email me, I have an idea!
I flat out can't get these to fit, I need about 1/2 inch more on the drivers side which would mean cutting into the pan and I don't want to do that at this point.

So I recovered the original CNC seats and changed the backings on them, and made a new carpet set out of some outdoor tan oatmeal stuff I found at the local shop. Its waterproof, has a lot less shag then what I had and its got somemore sound deading as it is rubber backed. This is going to be one quiet car when I get done with it.

So now the seats and door panels are in black leather, the carpet is in tan, the floor mats I am going to get are the factory oatmeal ones. Looks a lot better then I ever thougt it was.

I can now make carpet kits if anybody is interested for ~$400 in german squareweave or much cheaper in the traditional CNC style shag for ~150$ with black vinyl piping.

I need to finish the vinyl work (pan america stuff) and then this car is ready to go on to its next owner.
