Oh, Ron.....Come-on.....It isn't THAT bad.

A 901 into a beetle pan?  It IS a relatively easy swap, IF the pan is an IRS to begin with.  You swing-arm folks?   Forgetaboudit!  (I guess that's what you mean, huh?)

A 915 into that same pan?  Not quite so easy, but you need to fabricate three support members instead of one (or two, if you're anal) for a 901.

Mock them up with foam-core board, cut them out of 3/16" or 1/4" steel and weld them up (you bought that welder for something, didn't ya?).

I have to admit, though, that kit on the Samba looks very well thought out and the part quality looks(at least from the pictures) to be first rate.  A little pricey for my frugal budget, but very, very nice Fr someone looking for a bolt-in project.

The GermanLook link appears to convert a 914 1070-72 tail shifter to include pinion flip and air breather. Here's the links to install from the SAMBA ad so we still have them once item sells.

Seems some translations issues in GermanLook article.  It seems to says 911/912 901 early trans have large flange (hole?) while later 901/914 have small )hole?).  Assume that is the center bolt that holds it in the differential? Not sure why the flange has to be changed - couldn't you change the T1 inner (Trans side) CV to one from a 914 (vs matching the Flange to the T1 CV)?
