I use the Hide-Away is a simple bolt on, there is a supplied hanger strap that is welded to the exhaust, it needs to be bent slightly to reach the 2x2 steel frame work, it gets bolted up using a self tapping hex bolt. It take 3 minutes to loosen 2 of the 3 muffler to header bolts then swing the muffler out of the way for valve adjustments. The muffler runs along the right valve cover, if you want to change the muffler to something louder, it is a easy replacement. ~Alan

Hi Keith,
I too am trying to source such a muffler (I also have a Monza and am not enamoured with the quad pipe look)
I have a 1700cc type 1 motor with heat exchangers which I wish to retain and am looking for a muffler similar to the stock one I had on my old 356 A coupe-twin big bore pipes and a nice mellow bass sound.
I am considering perhaps purchasing a stock 356 Sport muffler and getting a muffler shop to marry the VW Monza system inlets to the 356 muffler ($775 from NLA).
Alternatively, I wonder if anyone has had experience moddifying a Monza to a twin pipe exit ?
Also have you considered a Tri Mill-it has the look you're after but haven't heard one and looking at the size of the muffler (old "hot dog" size), could be rather loud.
Regards,
Phillip Blacklock

Does anybody know if the tri mil twin tip fits a CMC? Ironic enough, I heard a nice sounding bug tonight in Tyne gas station and asked the kid what exhaust. It too was a 1776 and he has a tri mil with heat boxes and all on it... Tiny bit loud, but it wasn't bad. Anybody know anything about these?

Could you please elaborate on what the Vintage Speed "speedster exhaust" is? What are they doing differently. What models will it fit? I had purchased an exhaust and the tailpipes where too high. I did not want to cut fiberglass. They sent me a CAD file in order to let them know how much to drop the tips. They were goign to weld one up custom for me. Pretty cool. At that point I needed the money for somethign else, car related I am sure.
