I have performed several searches on the use of a Ghia tube fuel sender with 914 gauges. It seems to be necessary to use the tube sender rather than the Bug float sender. The only real issue for me is whether the tube sender will fit into the traditionally small fuel tank found in most Speedsters. If not, is there another solution?

Has anyone fitted a Ghia tube fuel sender into a small fuel tank?

This thread left me with remaining doubts: https://www.speedsterowners.com/forum/readmsg.asp?t=13948

"and didn't mess with any corners."

Ooooopppsss, wasn't being clear enough. Mixing info on tanks and senders . . .

The repro tanks have the problems. They're now a universal fit, meant for Beetles, but offered as Ghia substitutes. The forward corners have too much metal and need to be altered to fit the tapered Ghia nose confines.

The Ghia tube sender will fit Beetle, Ghia, Porsche, and BMW tanks (repro or otherwise) without any trouble.

Of course the original Porsche senders will fit the VW tank as well and offer the electric low fuel warning, kind of nice.

Luck,

TC
