Patric--an idea for your cross country trip might be in April the our club event at Morrow Bay, CA. This about between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Marty G. From Chicago is making the trip and maybe you could caravan with him? There should be 20-25 cars there this year so you can meet some of the community there.

Ditto what Lane said--Carlisle is a super event and is a ton of fun.

Welcome to the madness from Arkansas where we have only one Speedster replica in the entire freakin' state!
Patric,
If you are serious about getting known in the SOC community you should be reading about ALL of our events. Go to the Events page frequently and you will learn there are a number of great opportunities for you. Don't miss Morro Bay ... it's the best! (sorry, Gordon)

Jack,
Terry is trying to tell you to drop the W. If you keep spelling it that way we will have to get you a sweatshirt with crossed-out Ws all over it.

Happy Trails,
Dusty and LMS
I went to school in Kalamazoo, Mi., where Checkers were made. We used to study their business model in some of my classes. It was a long time ago and they were THE premier building of taxicabs. You could buy one that was suited for family use without the spartan taxi interiors. They had a luxury model that had ameneties like Cadillac ( an the weight too- they had a very sturdy undercarriage). They were tanks; the perfect urban asault vehicle. They ended up the ugly girl at the dance that no one wanted to talk to.Too bad they couldn't stay in busuness long enough to compete with the SUV market.
Jack,
An old friend of mine from moto-cross days used his Checker to go from event to event. He would just open the back door and roll his bike into the back seat area. Parts and gear in the trunk and still room to sleep on the front seat. Not pretty but functional as hell.
For some reason it always smelled like gas.No smoking, please.
