I just have to share my weekend experience!

I was on my way home from the "Formerly Known as Crystal Cove Car Meet" and my son called me and directed me to a huge Porsche gathering at Global Motorsport Group here in Costa Mesa (they build CRAZY Porsche engines for Daytona, Le mans and races as such).

Well, I pulled up and as luck would have it there was a prime parking spot right in front (right behind a nice Speedster). There was several hundred people (Pink-Izod-wearing, Deck-shoe-sporting, Varnets-sunglass-glaring, sweater-over-the-shoulder-primping Pcar owners) milling around the three-building complex that houses this custom race prep shop. Drivers, Race teams and vendors from around the world were in attendance. Obviously I blended right in with the crowd!LOL!

As I was walking from my car, a Frenchman (President of a company that supplies safety equipment to race teams world-wide) approached me and asked all the usual questions about my replica. He was so enamored with my VS we ended up talking for quite a while. He wanted to know where he could buy a Speedster replica (exactly like mine - silver with navy blue interior) in the next couple of days (before he had to return to France). He asked me to join the group at his display booth for more info (I gave him the usual SOC pitch).

Anyway, I thought it was cool that, in the midst of all the high-end Porsche gear and cars and Pcar social butterflies (did I mention BABES on parade?!!), this guy singled me and my car out to inquire as to how he could get his hands on one! Very cool - it made my day!!

Anyway, just had to share that!

Peace - Out!

Angela -

I thought about you and your Spyder when I saw this engine on display in various stages of development (one of 10 or so). They also did a demo with one of these bad-boys on a dyno. It's mesmerizing to watch a twin-turbo, twin-plug 911 hitting redline on a dyno!

I also studied the carbon-fibre wheels they're using (WAYYY lighter than an alloy wheel). It's hard to imagine a wheel used in race conditions made of anything other than some kind of metal alloy - Very cool stuff!

I walked into a shop across the street from this event and saw an Audi turbo-diesel engine like the one Audi used to win at Le Mans.

Peace - Out!
