I'm taking the liberty of posting on behalf of my friend JJR. He just scored an original 356A VDO tach gauge that he plans on eventually installing in his car. Of course originals are 6V and his car is a 12V. How do you make those gauges work on a 12V VW? I imagine some of you have tackled this. Thanks...

Checko out the 356 registry site (www.356registry.org) and look under '356 technical info' - below is a link to a 6 to 12 volt conversion article from that site:

In a nutshell it says you need to get the tach professionaly converted. I think I recall seeing this same info stated in the 356Talk forum as well.
