Not mine obviously but what an interesting build. 51 total miles since 2007?

I wonder did the customer buy a roller and have this drivetrain installed or did this get built by Special Edition? Chines1-Carey do you know the history of this car?
I'm surprised the engine fit.
Check out the DeDion rear suspension. I wonder if these really handle any better than the swingaxle?
Rick, they do, until you hit a bump with one wheel. Then it skips across the road like any solid rear axle American car. Love the 5 speed though, that would be great to have.
We did a special run of about a dozen of this spec in 07/08. Most had a flex fuel 8v I4 motor. IIRC we did 2x 8v turb'd and one with a 20v Audi TT turbo motor also. They handled very well in a straight line and to 9/10ths, but there wasn't much in the way of recovery if you pushed it beyond...
BTW, only 2-3 were sent out as kits. This looks liken we did for a guy in NY that owns a taxi company. Only time I can recall using the wheels.
I never understand the thought behind buying a nice car and only drive it 52 miles? I can see if it were a super rare car and doing that for an investment but not in this case. The car has the miles that Special Edition drove in the shake down process or do you hook up the speedo after the test drives Carey?
No we run the speedo during test drives. If the speedo was replaced, there would be an odometer correction statement in the door jamb We usually put 100 miles of testing on a car, but its possible it was only tested 52 miles if everything went perfectly and no adjustments were needed.
How many HP did that Golf engine have?
Both the 1.8L and 2.0L were somewhere around 115-120, the turbo cars were North of 200.
Audi TT 1.8 Turbo has 225hp.
Really interesting that the NA cars were equivalent to a 1914 cc Type 1 engine. So you get modern FI, emissions compliance and the five speed but also the complexity and headache of rigging a deDion rear axle and any extra weight the wasser L4 and its accoutrements add.
Seems like a wash.
