Harrison.

A word of caution about that beautiful red superwide body on eBay that you have mention you are interested in.

According to the ad, it is registered in Ohio as a 1957 Porsche, but it has an assigned VIN from Arizona and that could potentially create problems for you when you try to register it in Arizona or Texas.

I don't know the laws in Texas or Arizona, but in some states, you could end up with a real nightmare on your hands.

Others on the list who know more about titling a car in Arizona and Texas can weigh in.

Yes Tom, there's definitely a 'lust factor' to Shapiro's Ruby... which reminds me of an incident decades ago (before the replica era) when my wife and I attended a 356 Registry show-&-tell-&-flea-market gathering promoted by Jerry Keyser and Vic Skirmats in White Plains NY... A shopping center parking lot filled with mouth watering authentic stuff. Out of respect I parked my barely respectable coupe on the outer fringes!

One of the spectacular attractions was an immaculate black speedster that drew an admiring, salivating, crowd of oohs and aahs...Just as the Ruby does.

We pushed our way into the crowd and just stared at it.

"Honey I'd trade you in for that!" After a long contemplative pause she replied,

"Carl...I'd trade myself in for that!"

I too consulted with this site before buying. I liked Jim's keep it simple philosophy.
I rented a Speedster in Vegas and learned a bit more.
Bought mine of a SOG member and have been in luv since. Crossed the Rockies 7 times.
Got an '83 IM Roadster with 1600. Sometimes I crave more stuff but I am truly happy to have trouble free car.
