I've been asked a lot about a couple of trick accessories I had at Carlisle, so here goes:

My Spares carrier fits into the well in my 16" spare tire. It is a Rubbermaid, 16 inch diameter, "Tag-Along" condiment tray, and is made for taking chips and salsa to a picnic (found at Wal-Mart).

It has a round central tub for the salsa with a separate lid, three molded bins for chips (or spare parts in my case) and then a large lid that goes over everything. It's also water-tight (as I found out on the trip home).

The whole thing fits into the well of a 16" space saver spare like it was made for it, and all you have to do is drill or punch a hole through it so the spare hold-down peg fits up through and then use the spare's trim cover hold-down spinner to secure it (my mounting hardware is salvaged Cadillac Seville).

The cover over the rear cowl when the engine lid is open I made myself. It's a piece of vinyl upholstery material, backed with the exact same stuff used to line mechanics tool box drawers, and it has a finished edge all around both the inside and outside. Once it flops on, it doesn't move around and is nicely padded to protect from dropped tools and such. Easily stowed (it folds up nicely) and goes on/off in about 5 seconds. Considering making a few if anyone's interested - probably around $100 each or less if I can get a good deal on bulk materials.

I saw both these ideas in person, and both are great. I especially liked the rear cover for when you are working on the engine. The 'donut' shape and the rubber backing guarantee that it won't slip down or fall off. I just had my car in the garage last week, and the mechanic said he tried his best not to scratch the rear, but that none of his usual covers would stay on the car.
