Maybe I'm too anal (I have been informed of this many times) but how can I get rid of that big goofy sheetmetal bolt sticking up from the bottom of the headlight can?  It is right next to the park light, sticks up from underneath and looks phony to me.  I have seen this same fastener in the repro Beetle headlights.  Was it like that in the originals?  I can't believe Porsche would do something like that.

pic ?  perhaps Porsche didn't design it this way, vw, cmc, vs,sierra madre, et al,  may have spec'd this.  I understand "too anal", my roommate at the university hung his shirts according to the color spectrum...ROYGBIV...(or for those of us less anal,...red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet).  Shout out to Paul Perry, Santa Cruz County.

If my memory of the headlight buckets serves me correctly... the screw in question it's off to one side of the 'running light' bulb socket within the bucket. I think the screw holds the bulb socket into the bucket of the headlight.

It would seem to me that you could remove the screw and replace it with something else which would fasten from the top and secure on the bottom of the bucket.

Ignore the text comments in the image. I stole this graphic from the samba...

Ignore the text call outs on the image above. I totally poached this image from 'TheSamba'.

And you call yourself anal? If you were really anal you'd go to ace hardware and get a stainless steel nut and bolt / screw and bolt and fix that sucker once and for all.

(I kid...)
