It has been my observation over the last several years that the best way to lose your fanny on one of these cars, regardless of manufacturer, is to buy it new and loaded with options, particularly personal discretionary options (i.e. custom paint, sound systems, etc.) and then decide to sell it within months of delivery, which appears to be the case here.  I think Troy probably is in the reality ballpark with his estimate, but anything can happen when you expose it to the Ebay market.  A pretty basic 2005 VS went for over $24K just a few weeks ago.

Wellllll .... I did say 'at least'.

I've noticed that between the things I've been able to do myself and with some patience and research, the things I've been able to find online around the world, you can customize a more 'stock' model for far less than if you had the upgrades done at the time of purchase.

We got ours for what I thought was a reasonable price and with everything we plan on doing, we'll only spend twelve to fifteen hundred dollars more and that includes switching out door panels and making parts of the interior leather.

Have I mentioned how much I love those cruisin' windows?!

Hi Michael.

I hope you got it for a good price.  I had a bit of a run in with the dealer you bought it from when he had it listed on eBay and, at that time, he had it priced somewhere over $30,000, which was ridiculous: I sold the car for $23,500.  He was using my pictures to sell it and they were over a year old at the time.  He finally removed them and took his own pictures.

Let me know your wife's name and I'll edit the website link to the pictures to reflect you and her as the new owners.  http://kvan.hopto.org/midnightbluespeedster.htm

Glad you like the "Crusin" windows.

FYI, I had another batch built so they are available again.  $250 to "Supporting Members" and $275 to non-supporting members, when ordered directly from me.  $300 when ordered through eBay.

Hey Troy,

I get loads of compliments on the windows. Great idea!

Our local guy was great ... not sure he was the one you had issues with, this was a favor of the then current owner and yes at one point it was $32,500. Angela got it for $25,000. All in with the modifactions and things we want to do, I'd say we're at $27K ... I've had a couple of serious offers in $30K neighborhood so I feel fine with your hand-me-downs  ... I may actually be in the market for another one next spring, we keep arguing over who gets to drive.

If he had the same teething problems I did at 500 miles probably!  But the fix on these things is usually verY Straight forward and more than anything an adjustment here and there to get into great shape!  I am amazed at the ease of working on these things.  My first one I owned I spent a fortune to have things done to it...never again. Way to simple.  That car is absolutely stunning.

Yeah, that'd be great.... but it isn't going to happen. I haven't seen a decent driver for under $150K for years. Basket cases are going for over $100K, and absolute wrecks are going for north of $50K.

The guy with the ebay ad is on crack.
