Alan, what kind of rack is that on the back?

 

I like the way the shape matches the engine compartment opening.

 

Do the mounting posts go through the hibachi grille?

$110 and yes, it mounts through the grille w/ 4 studs which extend from the rack, my VS has holes drilled in the rain-guard/catcher for the rack

The grille on the CMC (commonly called a hibachi) is a bit smaller than the grille on other flavors.

 

That's why I asked Dr. Clock if the posts went through the hibachi.

"Start your Wallet"  funny as hell!!!!!  True too.

 

But worth it.

Mike.... The previous owner started to install that VS luggage rack through the CMC hibachi grill and it does't quite line up. he cut back the fin on the grill at each corner about 5/8", He was unable to make it fit but after I got the car and since the grill was already trimmed,  I was able to gently tweak the four legs of the rack in a vise to get them to line up... it looks OK.

I have another rack that gets surface mounted directly to the deck lid.....if anyone is interested.   BTW thank you for steering your neighbor my way.

Cool. I feel indirectly responsible. He asked my opinion on some CMC in Ohio & I aimed him @ Michael because he knows way more about CMCs than I.

After I saw that he bought yours, I felt stupid for not suggesting that instead.

I'm glad Michael was thinking clearer than I.

Two of the possibles he was considering were not the best and that, was just seeing photos and reading the text info.

Rene' is a good guy that is knowledgeable and understands that these cars are based on 1950 -1960's technology and a continual rolling hobby  I went over the two Speedster I had here. I think he will be pleased with the silver speedster. I understand a left turn signal problem came up which we'll figure out....

Rene' will surely be one of our regular " Funsters " here.

The weather here in S.E. Michigan has been horrible ever since the MADNESS arrived!

So needless to say, I didn't give her a good long test run past around the block.  But this weekend looks to be a sunny and kinda warm to give her a good test drive.  (pics to follow)

 

I did want to thank Tom (Dearborn) and Mike (Ann Arbor) for their help when I was shopping around and pointed me in Alans direction which ended me up with one of his pretty projects.  

 

Alan,  I still plan to give you a call Saturday in regards to the left turn signal question..

Good point.  All we'd have to do is show up before 11:00 AM and he'd still be asleep . . .

 

It's obvious he's not working on it so he may NEVER miss it!!

 

Just put something else under the tarp like you did when you were a kid and sneaked out of the house by making a blanket body under your covers.

I bet he wouldn't notice until he saw it posted on the SOC

Looking good Rene.  Toby and I went out for a short one today, probably only 65 miles, due to mechanical issues with someone's (Teby"s) battery. Weather was awesome, even in the low foothills.

Damn auto correct. TEBY and I went for a drive.  Who the hell is Toby.
