after lurking in this forum for a while and searching craigslist (actually crazedlist.org) - i found me a speedster replica in absolutely beautiful shape.

Got it home last night. It's a CMC Deluxe kit that was never assembled. the stuff is still in the package. the pan is compeltely done (previous owner was a fabricator) with 4 coats of marine enamel (he found out about POR15 after he did the marine paint. The bottom of the car is shinier than my wife's Honda.

The look i am going for on this is a 56 outlaw. Low / fast / bee hives / etc

I'm so excited i can hardly type (actually could hardly sleep last night)

Anyway, i am going to do all the work myself (except paint) and am starting ASAP!

to prep for this (been looking for a while), I fully insulated the garage (metal doors, ceiling), installed baseboards, painted the drywall, installed new lighting (3 banks of 4' lights), heater / cooling fan (for all season playing) and painted the floor (after etching it) a nice beige epoxy. 8 speaker surround sound system is all ready to keep me company.

Lucky my wife is pretty excited about the car too. :) I left enough magazines around the house for long enough that she is developing likes / dislikes.
Thanks for the warm welcome you guys!

Re: the garage... my wife knows that i let her park her car in there, but that's it. no gardening crap, no boxes, no nothing. I'm very relaxed about most things, when we got this house - it was the agreement that that was my "office".

As for the colour... it's definately not staying red. I've owned lots of red cars. I want something very uncommon. Was thinking about some shade of mango / pea green. pale. subtle. sexy.

Something like this...

Paul - if I'm not mistaken, that is EXACTLY the same color that Scott Sloan's car is painted. I have more pictures of Scotts car than I have of any other 3 speedsters... The color really draws me, and the next thing I know, the camera is clicking away!

Also, hope your build goes quick and well so that you can come down our way for the Southern Oregon Tour. I promise great people, good food and fabulous roads! This is a picture of Scotts car (couple of others too) at last year's SOT.

Paul -

Here's a link to a few more pics of Scott's car, taken by Rick Jiloty (550 Spyder) at Paso Robles 2007.
