Got weighed today

No Jenny Craig or bikini shots. Part of the great DMV process. 1/4 tank of gas, no driver. 1,620 lbs. With a Raby Type 1 estimated at 125hp. That puts me around 13hp/pound. Not too bad.

More like 13lbs per hp.......But I would give anything for the other way round.... ;-)

me at 265 lbs of pure muscle/sinew no wonder my mileage sucks. i need my 2275 just to get my ass rolling.

I just had to point out that my wimpy little Lotus ELISE weighs in at 1830 lbs and pumps out 210 hp (8.7lb/HP). I call it wimpy because Theron's Lotus EXIGE weighs about 100 lbs more and has about 65hp more (6.9lb/hp). Go figure THAT hp to weight ratio. It makes the LMS's blonde locks blow back just going to town for a hamburger. :-)

So I guess I am doing all right at 1450 lbs. with a half tank/ no driver. Then we have 180 hp coming out of my (Jake's) type1! A little over 8 lbs./hp(8.056) woooooohoooo!

I was thinking of sending the heads back for dual-plugging and making a few more horses(over 200) but then I said no need. There isn't enough tire for more power, really!

Let's see... Last year I (well, the car actually) weighed in at 1700 even. Since I have something around 125hp, that's 13.6 lb/hp. I can live with that for now.

I drove a friends Elise around New Hampshire Intn'l Speedway's road course and thought I set a pretty good lap time - seldom got below 4 grand, either. Then he got in with me as passenger and beat my lap times by 8 seconds!! The shame of it all...... 8>(

Years ago, John Steele and I were trying to come to an agreement on how to build my speedy. The conversation went like this:

John, "Well how much horsepower do you want"?

me, " How much will the car weigh"?

John, " About 1800 pounds".

me, "Then I'd like about 180 horsepower".

This was ten years ago, and needless to say, I didn't get what I asked for, but I did get a very nice 2367 Type IV. Today, I beleive that answer is much more obtainable, and probably involves a choice of several different power plants. Progress is good!

My old Eclipse turbo weighed in at 3350lbs, but still had a 5.8lb/hp ratio. :)

With the current Speedster Dad and I are building, I'm projecting somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.8lb/hp. It should be.. umm.. "brisk".

If it's "brisk" like the Eclipse was, make sure you cover the seats with material that is easily washed. I'm just sayin'

oh, I didn't mean for this to get into a "mine is bigger than yours" debate. I hate to say it, but Angela's is & probably will always be bigger than mine. That Spyder was over the top & I'm sure they'll do the same with their 904 build.

Right. I read the new post on other board about the "Paint it Black" engine mish-mash and the 904 build AFTER the his 'n' hers Speedster builds. If I did not know that the opposite was true, I'd say these two gear heads did not have enough to do -- they just play w/ cars all day, or so it seems . . .

Lets just say that Angela gets wet in more ways than one...
