This post really belongs up in "Anything Goes" but I chose to post it here for a wider audience of some who may not be a "Supporting Member" and looking to get into the 356+ replica hobby.

This month's Hagerty Driver's Club email has a great article about choosing a shop to do a classic car restoration, but I read it with an eye towards choosing a shop to build a 356 replica (or ANY replica, for that matter).  We've all read about Vintage Motorcars Inc and/or Beck as the remaining top tier builders (and I'll include Reisner Carrozzeria with them as Intermeccanica, too), but we still get queries (and sometimes tales of woe) about some of the other "builders", and as much as we try to steer newbies away from the problematic shops, some people still fall into their traps and lose significant money.

This article covers a lot of ground that applies to the 356+ replica world and is spot on with its' insight.  Take a look:

I like how he talks about the different versions of restored that certain owners have in mind. It made me LOL because it never ceases to amaze me how different opinions exist even in what is a restoration, what is a good condition car, or a great car.  For some a very derelict car is a Rolls.   At least in their asking price.
