Congrats on doing the research and deciding on a Speedster for your wife! Nice choice and I'm sure she (both of you) will certainly enjoy it. "Welcome to the Madness" of replica Speedster ownership!

Looks like it's a stock VW air cooled 1600 plant. I haven't had a chance to dig into it much yet. We won't pick it up until next Tuesday or so. Not sure if we'll do a lot with this one except a few trim / accessory type things ... just drive and enjoy.

Once we have it and all the paperwork, I want to reach out to Kirk at Vintage Speedsters and see if they have any specs / info on the original build.

Looking for a 356 SC Coupe maybe next year to restore and do a little more customizing all round.

I think that might be the blue widebody I restored and sold to a guy in Sarasota a year or so ago.  He resold it to a dealer in the New England area.  Post a few more pictures of it and I'll be able to tell for sure.  FYI.  It was a VERY nice car!  Almost identical to my personal Super Widebody Vintage.

Damn those wide bodies are cool

It's possible ... I saw the Youtube clip of Troy picking his up at VS but thought that one was an '07. This one was built in '09. 

Actually, now that I see Troy's photos, I think I have to agree ... the skeletonized interior door handles. I hadn't seen those on another speedster before. Well, thanks Troy, you built a hell of a car! My wife Angela hasn't stopped smiling all week! Looks like she'll be picking it up on Monday.

Congrats, and welcome from a fellow Speedster rookie.  After a false start or two, ours is being delivered tomorrow.  Your car looks like a really nice one. Enjoy it.

Thank you and congratulations to you too! Hope the false starts are done. I find it frustrating and we've only waited a week. Wanted to make sure the title and registration from the previous owner were all in order. NH is actually very easy when it comes to DMV issues but never hurts to be prepared.

Its funny to see pictures of this car.  I was just poking around this week and saw the listing on Craigslist for this car as I live in Mass.  Hope to see you tooling around. Good luck.

The only apparent difference is the addition of the Porsche decals behind the front wheel wells if this is the original Troyster.

I think it's the same car. There are two stains on the trunk liner that are identical and it looks like only a couple of minor things have been changed. The brakes have been redone, the engine cover is now chrome not black and the plug wires are gray not yellow.

Funny, I remember those pictures from a search I did when I first started looking more than a year ago.

It is the car I sold in July of 2011, but I did not put the decal on the side.  It had a 1915cc engine from Vintage, so if it really is a 1600, it has been replaced.

We brought her home last night (a day early) and she is beautiful! Have already ordered a few accessories, badges and parts for her and after posting pictures, I've received nothing but disgusted comments about parking her under a temporary canopy. We've decided she needs a safe permanent place of her own to weather the New Hampshire winters so now most of my weekends this summer will be spent spent pouring concrete and pounding nails ... will serioulsy cut into my drive time!

Teriffic Michael...Your widebody would make a stunning addition in Lime Rock's Porsche Corral, come late Summer.

BTW, if it has a mechanical fuel pump seriously consider replacing it with an electric one...ask me how I know !!

 I think my wife has that on her list. It was late when we finally go her home and starting to rain. I haven't even driven it yet so I really haven't looked it over in detail. I figured anything that might be wrong or ready to be a problem, either way we were going to replace it. Angela says it runs great and after growing up in her Dad's garage, knows more about cars than I do. (He admitted rather begrudgingly) Even though we can do most of the work, until the garage is done I don't have a good work area so I'll  have our mechanic go over her thoroughly ... I will stll need a lot of input, advice and support! Thanks!

What town are you guys in?  We've got a few summer things going on all over Southern NE (meets, shows, cruises) and might be able to interest you in a few.  Also, Susie-Stew and her husband are on here from time to time - they have a Speedster and live in Nashua, as well as Peter Venuti who lives down in Beverly, MA.  I'm over in Grafton, near Worcester.

Michael, yes LRP on Labor Day weekend. Saturday is the day we go and watch the vintage cars bang around. Great fun!
