I ordered a set of state II Greg Timms cylinder heads on September 24 and they arrived yesterday. Greg said they would take about 7 weeks and he was true to his word.
To my untrained eye they look great. I can't wait to get them bolted on to my engine. He also match ported my intake manifolds.

They look nice, Ron. I am curious about what appear to be three curved raised areas around the periphery of the cylinders. They look like they'd prevent proper mating to the cylinder barrels, but what do I know. Do you know their purpose?
Lane,,,Those are just casting bosses. The step inside the head is where the cylinder seats and seals....
When flycutting for higher compression, sometimes those bosses have to be machined off so the head seats, but normally there's enough clearance. When building a motor, or even changing heads it's always something to check though.

I've put together a VW engine from a short block, but never from scratch. I plan to build one next year, but it will be stock and from old parts I have in my shop. That way, if it blows up I haven't lost a lot of money-just my time.
To be honest, I don't trust my ability, and I've got a lot of money in this engine.
