Jack, I have one of the SOC badges and I think it's neat. A while back there was some talk about striking a new one, but it died away. Also, there was some negative comments about the what the badge said. It was questionable in my mind too, but I think the design won in the voting because it was the best design offered at that time.

That was a limited production badge. It worked out well when we got over 100 preorders. The badge was struck and shipped out to the owners. For all the work it doesn't really pay the bills, but it is a nice feature for the site.

There is another badge in the works. As soon as we have more details I will post them.

Gentlemen,

I'm sure everyone has a good idea, but this is exactly what killed the second badge- design by committee. Two and a half years ago, this was a BIG discussion topic. Theron has a new badge in the works- I'm sure it will be great, and will probably not say "Live fast, die young, and leave a beautiful corpse". Thankfully.

BTW- I've got the original badge in my tool chest. It looks great, but it has a motto I cannot subscribe to as a prominant feature. email me, and I'll see if I can hunt it up.
I am wondering what a simple "line art" representation of the profile of a Speedster might look like on a badge. I thought, on the fiftieth anniversary badge, the whole thing was a bit difficult to visualize because of the complexity of the representation. The Nike "swoosh" has become a readily recognizable logo because of it's immediate recognizability and it's simplicity.

Maybe the profile with the distinctive script "Speedster" under the fenders and window sill, with a wreath containing the Speedster Owners
Association would be acceptable. (The speedster profile, and the script could be the raised brass of the badge).
This fellow has great stuff and reasonably priced, eBay seller name:
michael_keil

He also sells decals from the era which is kinda fun to use on our cars.
Going to German eBay is fun, they call 'em plakettes (sp?) and you can find all sorts of travel, event or affiliation-related grille badges as well as cool trophy memorbilia.

In the IMHO-department, grille badges can also be afixed to the side of the car above the carriage builder plaque or dashboard too... This is where the madness can really kick-in (my trunk got a little carried away) but these cars were sporting cars and attended and participated in driving events. Badges are part of their pedigree.

Lived Fast, Got Old, Plan to be Creamated, WTF
