Carey once told me that the GT mirrors were mostly for appearance - not very useful. Of course my memory ain't what it used to be, so verify with him.
I've found convex mirrors to be the best way to enable any type mirror on a Speedster or Spyder..... I've made my own using "temp." mirror repair sheets from O'riley's....

Have you seen the "new" GPS units that have an add on rear view camera. Screen size is maybe 4-5 inches but works with top up or down. Camera is designed top top the license plate but could be mounted elsewhere.

Tom,
- Better interior door handles (if we can find them)
I managed to get my hands on about a dozen old German inner handles that are PERFECT, heavy, very very nice. I have a set put aside for you.
@ Wolfgang, that's a backup camera. I'm not really that concerned about backing over anybody :-). This is really a trivial issue. I drive with the top down 99% of the time & don't need mirrors. With the top up, the driver's mirror & interior mirror are adequate and the curved backlight on a Beck actually provides excellent visibility. It was my bad on the mirror placement. It was only a consideration due to new paint. I'm done considering. Not worth doing. Thanks for the feedback!

How can you not love this guy? Best customer service. Ever.
I'm going GT all the way on my 356 coupe, but not doing the GT mirror, since I already have a Spyder with that look. Seems like visibility with that mirror would be marginal at best.

Tom - Look into Raydyot mirrors. They're racy looking and probably provide better visibility. You could even place them on the doors.
Talbot mirrors were popular on German cars back in 60-70's. There is a wide range of sizes and styles from the "Junior" to the "Sports". Parts are readily available too - including convex lenses. They come chrome, flat aluminum and black.
Oooo, I forgot about the Talbots. They're prettier (but less racy) than the Raydyots (see attached).

Carey can you set a pair aside for me, I am not as far along as my winter list as Tom but like his thinking. And do you have an update on the dash piece redesign you were working on.
Joe,
Will do.
I just finished a RHD 356 headed to Trinidad and Tobago with the first new dash trim. Will be working on one for LHD soon... no problem to do that over the winter if you still want to.
Lane, I'll see your Raydoyt and raise you a Talbot -
Carey, give us a picture of the new dash trim. I might be interested in one for my Beck.
Hmmm. Me too.
Yeah...me too!!!
Carey, best I get one of those sets of door handles put aside for me too. Plus, save room for me, I need some "winterizing".
Gettin' some ideas for you next coupe?
oh i've been busy
Pretty car! That one yours, Gerd?
was mine
Someone needs to make a thin wink mirror!
I did not like the loose/floppy door handles onmy Beck,so I went on the Samba and bought some good, used VW Bug door handles vintage 57-ish and put then on,I did have to use a Dremel to slightly open them up a bit,but they are on there solidly and are MUCH better quality than the repros. Cost like 20 bux.
Also went on there and bought aluminum ivory colored knobs & switches to get rid of the plastic stuff, and used a 50's Bug turn signal switch, and all of these things really brought the interior "back to the 50's".
BTW,my car came with 2 GT mirrors installed by the PO,and they are functionally almost totally useless!!! If the holes weren't already drilled in the Fender,I would probably take them off.
I have the Talbot Jr's. They look best on the door. They are pretty good. I don't think any of the mirror options are perfect as far as visuals.

We've all gotten used to the huge mirrors on modern cars. Any of the older ones will look awfully small.
Nobody uses mirrors or turn signals now anyways! lol

I'm a BIG fan of add on blind spot mirrors. I added them to my DD's this summer and I don't know how I lived without them all these years. The problem with my mirrors are that they are obscured by the windshield posts due to the placement that I chose. If I added blind spot mirrors, there would just be another layer of mirror that I couldn't see.
My driver's mirror I can see, but have to lean over a tad. If I can't get better performance from GT mirrors, I'm done thinking about it. Maybe you could add blind spot mirrors to the GT mirrors and improve them. Maybe somebody else will give this a try and report back.
