Guys, I'm stumped! I've got a 2275 Scat motor with a Rancho pro-street trans and a EMPI shifter. I've had the car about 9 months and the trans has worked well.
However, recently the trans has become hard to shift. It gets worse after it's run for a half hour or so. It's mostly when I try to engage second or first at a stop. It shifts up much more easily on acceleration.
The clutch appears to be properly adjusted and nothing makes any noise.
I think the trans oil is ok but I'm about to check, nothing leaks however and it has worked for a long time.
I've had to wrestle with the shifter a couple times to engage first, could I have bent something?
Any suggestions?

I'm with Jerome - sounds like the shift lever has moved slightly to the right or left, pushing the hockey stick slightly out of alignment with the gear actuators inside the tranny nose cone. Why suspect that? Because BOTH 1'st and 2'nd are affected, but not the gears on the other side of the pattern.

Also, if you're checking the tranny oil, what the heck - drain it out and replace it with synthetic 90 wt. and it'll shift smoother after that in ALL gears.
Thanks for your help guys. I thought it sounded like a linkage problem except that it gets worse as it gets hot. But I guess everything gets worse when it gets hot.
I'll have Kirk spec it up as he installed it.
Thanks again I can always count on someone on this site giving me good info about my mysteries.
