Its finally done.  Matching paint was the big challenge.  Can't pick it up til Friday.  At Inn at Little Washington for 30th wedding anniversary.  Unfortunately don't think I will be bringing it to Carlisle.  Kind of a fair weather mod.ton1ton2

Head rests would definitely not work with tonneau. Obviously being a conv D I have to take the soft top off to place the tonneau. Since my car came with a hard top Henry made it very easy to remove soft top. Remove 4 bolts release 2 clamps and it come off.  I only leave the head rests on when the hard top is on. When the soft top or tonneau is on the head rests are in the garage.

Phil obviously has arrived: drives an IM, fashions custom tonneaus, and eats at the Inn at Little Washington, where its best if you apply for a second mortgage before ordering.  I think it would be hard to pay more for a meal than what they ask.  Of course all of Phil's choices are five stars and then some.  Beautuiful fit and finish on the tonneau.  Better if it could work with a top of some kind, so trips out could be less weather dependent.  But it looks terrific. Is the headrest/pad high enough?  Looks like it might be a little low.  Pic w/ Phil sitting in it would tell the tale.

More pics.  Looks even better in person.  Fiberglass part plus custom work set me back about $1800.  I know that's a bunch.  But any custom work is expensive.  Secured at 4 points.  Had the car at 60 mph which is my normal highway cruising speed and zero movement or rattles.  Unnecessary indulgence.  But what the hell.  It looks BAD A$$.

I just thought I would share this... most IM's that do not have a Hardtop have many screws to remove so that the soft top can be removed and so if you do not live in a warmer spot you would not make use or at least it would be quite laborious to remove the soft top and place the tonneau on and off.  Anything can be done but you have the best set up to as your IM was made to be interchangeable in a short period of time.

Just saying.

I have an older IM. One bolt on either side installs either my hardtop or convertible roof.

David. Talk to Alan about a hard tonneau. Mine fits all IMs and CMCs. Probable the one he's going to copy. I guess if you live in a cold climate hard tonneau not such a great idea. I'll probably leave mine on all summer and put the soft top on if I'm going on trips. Hard top stays on all winter as I'm sure yours does. You guys in Cali could go hard tonneau most of the time. Btw just drove out to get a movie. Greater than average number of thumbs up.

Sorry for any confusion. I don't need  a tonneau. Your's looks like a very nice item and a very nice combo with your car. I was  just relating to Ray's comment about fitment of hardtops and convertible roofs.

Bill.  Cover will keep interior protected but we still are screwed if it starts raining.  Even if speedster guys can store the soft top under the hard tonneau there is still no way to carry the hard tonneau with the top up.  It makes my 356 just about as impractical as my previously owned 550s.  Except that I can go back to my garage and convert my 356 to a 4 season cruiser.
