Just for laughs I put the hardtop on the Speedster again today for another looksee. I might take Danny Pip's advice on attaching via a vinyl rear lip at the back snapping into my existing fasteners for the tonneau. All I'd need then is a couple of over center or turnbuckle devices to hold to the fitting where the convertible mechanism attached to the body and two or three front windshield clips and it's on. My car is the ivory colour and my interior is tan. The overall idea would be to travel with the hardtop on and if we stayed somewhere for a couple of weeks or so down South, remove the hardtop and live with a full tonneau for that time. So...two questions to ask comments for...what colour do I paint the hardtop and make up the vinyl lip snap thing out of? Black, or try to match the ivory ( I'm not painting the whole car just yet ) , or go to some tan colour that might match the interior? Would I go gloss or try some gloss wrinkle paint on it ? Last question for ideas ....any idea what to line the inside of this fiberglass roof with. Any new, glue on insulated vinyl products that might be suitable ? It might need some sound deadening effect too. Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks guys...the front of the top fits the windshield bow perfectly and that's the crucial part. When snugged up forward, the top fits the door pillar nicely too. The top at that point needs to be flexed in just slightly and it will do that, but I wish the rear / bottom lip of the top was just about and 1 1/2" longer to sit aft of the fasteners on the body. Extending the aft lip would involve changing the entire profile or slant of the back of the top. Plenty of glass work there.

I'm leaning towards black to, Lane. I opened up the side pic in "paint" and did the Angela thing and it looks ok especially with the black wall tires. Any chance someone could photoshop the roof into black to be sure? Thanks.

And yes, Lane. The windows should be pretty easy and might allow a nice seal at the windshield sides too. Carl Berry had a neat idea of using magnets to hold the top of the windows to the hardtop. Clever bugger that lad....

I bought a top for mine last year, dug it out a few weeks ago to see if it fitted, (it didn't), The back section under the window was a mile out. So I chopped it off and have been reshaping!

I also needed to cater for my shoulder seatbelt mount, I'll take some pics of the solution.......not yet sure if I like the mod.

try a few different shades of silver ,or rather narrow it down to close to what catches your eye and try many shades of them to help narrow it down farther. then add the port holes&mount the mini gun on the top& one cannon on each fender. and dont forget the booty.....

I still undecided on weather to buy or make a hard top.effing OCD!!!

Light tan it is...even the Bride agrees. I'll try a wrinkle paint finish and try to get a paint colour to coordinate with the seats, somewhat like the tan soft top. Wrinkle paint doesn't come in tan but there are ways around that apparently. Jack..yes this top at Carlisle 2014. I figured out a way to "stretch" the rear of the top too and may pop a mold. I'll be looking for a full tonneau in tan in the meantime.
