The windows and windshield look absurdly tall, which indicates to me that this has GOT to be Bug-based and very small. The second picture down on the right side makes it look practically like a Shriner's car, and the whale-tail looks enormous. It's got four-bolt wheels, too!
I like it ... sort of ... But I'd paint it Glitter Metal Flake Brown (ala the Bradley GT) to make it obvious it was a phony.

Rather foolish to spend 3750 pounds ($6924 american buckeroos), on a replica when that money will buy a REAL 911...

We have an 82 targa - soon to be a cabriolet that we paid $4200 for. Quite decent driver though a run down interior and lousy paint.

Just bought the cabriolet top and all conversion bits - $1500. That will be a REAL convertible 911 for about the same cost as the replica.

If they had made this replica with a speedster type windshield that would have looked pretty darn cool though.

Sure, Luke! It's scavenged out of a make-your-VeeDub-Wienermobile-into-a-911 kit! 'Course, sadly, that was a CMC construct. Personally, I like the non-color-matched fenders on the front. They really add something.
I think the molds are still in Miami somewhere!

Jim, I'll be on the lookout. Will a pedal car do for now? Forty bucks!

I'm shocked at the number of Wienermobile Wienermobilia out there!

But I don't see a single whale-tailed replica anywhere. I'll keep looking ...
Ah-Ha! The imperical data! The Wienermobile Road Test article!

This one's just flat frickin' funny! Al Unser, Jr. autographed the afore-mentioned pedal car's photo at the finish line of some race track or other (you may recognze the brickwork):

... but that last one may not last too long. I think it may well be hanging in my bar before the week's out.

This details the procedure. Its actually not that complicated, these cars WANT to be convertibles (haha - I think all cars want to be convertibles!). Right now we are working on a car who had the conversion done many years ago car is a 1980 - held up very nicely. Our other p-project is an 82 and is due for the surgery over the next couple of months.

Also suggest you add the body stiffeners through the inner rocker panel area. Its a good thing - something the factory added to the cabbies eventually and used on race cars for much longer to increase chassis stiffness.

angela
Thanks a whole bunch Angela. Was wondering if you know of anyone who has done a conversion on a 356? I know their inner construction is different(hence they rust from the inside out....no fun at all) but I would surmise that with the correct stiffeners you could pull it off. I was shocked the the day to see a 60 cab.on samba go for 85k ...in one day...got me thinking I can tell you.
