For those that do not have metallic paint, such as a black car, instead of repainting the front end, has anyone used "black" (or any other color) wrap as you would a clear bra?

The hood on Larry Bull's car (labull) is wrapped with a checkered flag.
I think it would be difficult to match the color of the paint, including black. That is, it'd be more obvious than a clear one.
You should know that putting a clear bra on the car will actually hide swirls and imperfections in black paint. A friend with an R8 wrapped the whole car to hide those.
But clear bras, or wraps for that matter, have their own issues. I have a black BMW 128i with a clear bra over much of the front. Some of the issues I've seen are:
All of this said, I will continue to maintain a clear bra on my daily driver due to the peculiar road conditions to be found in a major container port near the beach. Can you say large percentage of vehicles being 18-wheelers or dump trucks along with lots of sand, rocks, and other debris? I knew you could.
So here was my thought. So the color of a black wrap might be a little different in color, will be close enough since these are not collector cars, but it will be half or more the cost of a paint job for the front of the car. It will take a rock impact better then painting also. Even if it has to be wrapped 3 time or more, it is cheaper than painting and clear bra.
Just saying.
All that as I drop the mic on the stage....... Peace Out!!!!!
dupli-color makes a clear wrap spray, also in colors the clear is shinny or dull depending on what you want, ive had it on my hot rod this summer to see how it held up to stone chips. it was great. next summer it will be on the front of the speedy. bill

There are a lot of people who are using Plasti-dip to paint their cars. You could certainly mask off the front area and do it yourself. I'm including a Youtube link not because I think this guy's method is the best, or even the worst, it's just to show you the process.
There are people who are doing their whole car with more professional methods and there are people doing it with rattle cans of Plasti-dip. Either way it's an inexpensive alternative to a wrap or a clear bra.
So, I could change the colour of my car whenever I wanted?
Just like reupholstering a chair or something...
