Is there a reason you didn't buy directly from VS? Didn't you have to pay a premium to buy from A.L.? I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with the brand choice you have made if the car and the price were agreeable to you.

As far as other choices go, if you click on the "makers" tab on the top of this page, you could see who the other vendors are and have contact information for them. There are plenty of owners on this website for each brand and most, I'm sure, would be glad to respond to questions.
Russell,

For what it's worth: the cars that come from VS and the cars that I saw at Automotive Legends were completely different.
I cannot comment on your particular build, or even all of the cars that Automotive Legends sells, but the cars that they were finishing when I visited Wil had lots of things changed from "stock": different German square weave with the proper pockets, proper door panels, Fibersteel original style seats, tire straps, Reutter racks, proper dash pad, dash beading, and lots of very high end accessories from Russ at Fibersteel. Many of them were also getting a new Rancho box and a big CB motor. We visited a body shop down the raod from the warehouse where several of the darker cars were being blocked and repainted.

I am not saying ANY of this as a negative towards Vintage or Kirk's work, just saying that I would look at AL in the same way you look at JPS. Sure, Wil may get his stuff farther along than John does, but it's the same idea, same car, finished to a different "level".

Again, I cannot comment on your particular build, specs, etc.. that is for you to discuss with AL, just sharing my opinion on the matter.
Russell,
I have a Vintage, I love it. I also think Kirk is the best.....
Does he produce the best product? No...Does he produce the best product for the money? Absolutely...Does he stand behind what he sells? Absolutely....
Judging by what I know and what is being said about the guys in Malibu upgrading their units, I don't think you are getting screwed unless they don't stick behind their product after it leaves the showroom and you have a problem with it. Their history in this respect is suspect as far as I am concerned, due to a thread recently by a buyer who had a serious problem with them. Have they repented? hopefully....
These cars are worth what they mean to you in the big picture, not just dollars and cents...If mine disappeared tomorrow, it was worth every penny I paid for the time I've already had with it.....
Russell -

Here's a link to a thread from a while back regarding Automotive Legends for you to look at and then decide. If you go to the 'Search' on this site and type in 'Automotive Legends' you'll see the history that dealer has on the SOC website.

Good or bad, right or wrong, it's only fair you have some background to make the best decision for yourself in this matter.

I have a VS and very happy with it as a daily driver. There are some VERY knowledgeable folks on this site who can offer a wealth of knowledge & opinions to temper your decision on most any Speedster issue. Good luck with your decision.

Peace - Out!
