Ron ,I am getting ready to make the top for my car.

May I copy a pic or 2 of your top to have as a extra referance,

I do have the old top that came with the frame but, sence my car is speedster based,I will have to have a custom top .

Any close ups will help tremendiously.

1957 Vintage Speedsters(Convertible D)

My speedster D started its life as a Vintage Speedster .

I bought a real D windshield and top frame ,and converted my kit as I built it. Roll up window and all.

The biggest step forward is the nonzipper rear window kit. I made all the extra bow parts including the latches that match the factory 356 top latches.

It should work perfect, but you never know untill it hits the road.

I have a CMC "D" model. I needed a top too. I just bought one from CABRIOWORLD in Newark, NJ. I ordered it for a original "D". When I got it, I had to install the snaps (female ones - the males were already on my car). I have to say it fits beautifully! It is STAYFAST material, very thick, not cheap vinyl or psuedo-canvas. I can send you photos if you like. CABRIOWORLD has a website www.cabrioworld.com. Ask for Jeff, he and his dad run the company. Dad has a big $$$ Packard and has been in the business for over 50 years. The top was around $370, I believe. Well worth it. I ordered the header bow from VINTAGE, then used 3M Super Adhesive spray on glue.

I allready have restored the old drip rails that came with the top. They were rechromed along with

the windshield frame ,

the door trim the lower window scrapes fit in,

the front top latches, the rear window kit latches and some other odds and ends

I still wish my engine grill was chrome, and I did find the 4 steel ends for the wiper blades, I wanted to have chromed

I have the black plastic blades on for now.

I have one delima which I need to decide on, The clubs input is more than welcome in helping me decide.

Which size rear window should cut for my Speedster/D

A speedster low bow?

A speedster hi bow? Unhum!!

Or a true D ?
barry do you have a roll bar? My D has a roll bar and is right in the way when I unzip the window and lay it in the tub it doesnt lay flat because the roll bar is in the way.........Im tempted to remove the roll bar because I think it adds nothing to the looks and is in my way......I guess I could call it part of my getting medievel on this car plan.

Of course someone hits me and the car rolls over the car will be getting medievel on me...LOL
The optional IM roll bar is a true 4-point bar that bolts to the frame tubes, clears the top, and meets SCCA requirements. mine is removable from the cockpit (and has carpeted cover plates to finish the mounts nwhen bar is removed) but I'll leave it installed for the Carlisle show.
I remembered your earlier post about that roll bar.

I've been hoping you would post a pic or two of it, installed and out with the plugs removed. to check the mounting points on my pan based car,for compadibility.
If it does not affect the seating area at the doors, and interfer with entry and egressing the car.
I may want to contact Henry about one for mine.. I might even add a grab handle to help me in and out of the car.and to train me to never grab the windshield frame, which is another concern.
