"NECESSARY BADGING" - they run fine without any "fake" badging. Check out Terry Nuckels' Penny with VOLKSWAGEN badging.

Porsche AG will sue folks producing fake badging unless they get a piece of the action - so real badging will be about $300. Klasse356, SierraMadre, Stoddard all carry the badging. Add it down the road - great Christmas prestent from family members.

Hi Scooty.  I'm not really clear what you are asking.  If the question is "can I afford the badging" I am not sure how expensive you thought it would be;  I think the question was answered in the previous response.  But it sounds like there are other issues that are holding you back from becoming part of the madness.  There is no doubt that building a Speedster is a major job.  That is why there are many unfinished (some unstarted) kits out there.

Think about what your goal is here.  Is the building a car a high priority or do you just want to drive one.  There are plenty of lightly used Speedsters on the market, many listed right here.  That will get you into the game much more quickly, even if the one you purchase needs some TLC.

Good luck and good hunting.

As said before me, the badging isn't what's important here. And since none of these replicas have a Porsche vehicle identification number and it's not like you'll be welcomed into the fold (or with some even respected for building/owning a car that's a lot of fun), why worry about it? The beauty here is you get to build it how you want, in the style you want, and drive around in a car that's affordable and you don't have to worry about your investment that's worth as much or more than a house in your neighborhood. You wrote, "ALSO I KNOW MY SUBJECT WILL BE SCORNED UPON BY PURISTS"; those are good words to know going into this. Remember those words as you are driving around all over the place, while most metal Speedster owners are afraid of taking them out into traffic for fear of damaging their investments.

Oh, yeah; and Welcome to the madness. Al

Scotty,

in my late 20's and 30's I lusted for one of these replicas.  They are just drop dead gorgeous.  In my 40's, I could afford one, but too busy in the corporate world.  Even then I still had my old CMC sales literature. In my 50's I was still too busy.  Finally with help of a loving wife, at 60+, I got my dream!   There is an ol Frank Sinatra, song, title eludes me, about enjoying life now.  Who cares what someone thinks about your "replica".
