Head Light Switch

My CMC head light switch get's hot; naturally with the lights on. Are 15amps enough? Who makes a good replacements 3 position switch?

Add a aftermarket 30 - 40 amp driving/ fog light relay this will take the load off the switch and all the switch will be doing is powering the relay, it's is a 30 wiring minute job. ~Alan

Good call Alan. I need to do this, I am on my third headlight switch. Just switched to a 6 volt switch.

I had heard that the marine grade switches or older Mercedes work well.

I do what Alan does.

Don't bother upgrading the switch, just install a relay after the switch to off-load the current from the switch. That's why I have so many relays in Pearl (8, at last count).

I've used these up to 40 amps on Cibie Driving lights with great results, although they get a tad warm with 60 amp lights:

If you're wicked cool you can get the pigtail/socket for it, too. (Sorry, I don't have a part number for those, but the NAPA guy might be able to help - if he's old).

I bought 10 relays off ebay for $25. The pigtail bases have tracks that allow them to connect together for a neat installation. I got combo of 30 and 40 amp ones for headlights, fog lights, horn, and flux converter.

Must I say it!! Check your grounds.. at the lights .. That can cause this also..
