The red isn't doing it for me no mo'. Gotta go black with cranberry red interior and black top. I really love the tan top but I remember that it shows dirt lines after awhile of being folded (if you put it away dirty, I suppose), so black cloth up top. I spent much of the weekend taking off parts and ripping out interior. I didn't even realize my seats were on tracks until I pulled them... not that I could ever make this tracks slide again. I have a nice little new parts department going on in my garage for when Speedy gets back from the shop - going straight from paint shop to upholstery shop for (VS kit) carpet and (DIY) interior. I'll get some photos going on the project.
And Scott, if you change your mind and decide to go black too, join the brotherhood of "those who have to wax their car every weekend because they have chosen black" -- ugh. Last chance to talk me out of it...

I'm in on the daily driver gig too. Yes there will be chips and swirls and dust and whatever - I'm prepared to have it look less-than-perfect at all times. You should see it now! The red is so far gone it's orange. Besides, I might get that cool "Eddie Murphy's car" look from "48 Hours" if I never wash it (now there's a dark side to the lighter side of things).
Angela's right. Just wash and wax it good and get one of those Calif dusters and Meguiars. If you're careful (out of the rain) you can keep the car looking real nice for a long period of time.

Don't think a black top will solve the dirt problem...on tan it shows up as black but on black it shows up as tan. My black top shows all the dust lines but again...wipe it once and a while with whatever (even a damp cloth...but not a towel as then you'll have lint) and it looks good.

Be prepared for every little mark showing in the balck paint. Like an old song title..."Black cars Look Better in the Shade". Gino Vanelli I think.
Jarco.. Welcome as well. I have had mine and you know what they say.. Once you go black... The Mag's tip is awesome and I use it all the time remember Jarco this tubs are not your Dad's Buick, another words your detail ofthis ride should take about 20 minutes tops unless you have to go a 3 step process for cleaning, but since your coming right out of the sprayer I am sure the Mag's wax wil do you fine..

Welcome to the Darkside~!

P.S. When your done pop up north for a run!

Dave - that's the color combo! I'd love to come take a look one day before I make ALL my decisions. Still trying to figure out my carpet/rubber flooring combo. Still trying to find that synthetic German square that doesn't stink. But that looks waaaaay cool that way. I think that's the inspiration my wife (from Whittier) would enjoy seeing. We had fun yanking out old carpet, windshield and instrumentation today.
