My headlamps have been working and last night went to drive my car and Low beam headlights won't come on,but if I hit the high Beam switch the High beam lights stay on. Does that mean the high beam switch or the relay is bad? I had this problem 20 years ago on another car but forgot what caused it. Any sugestions?
Thanks Ron

I know Carey built your car. I did not realise he was using earler turn switches or a modern non relay switch.

Ifd you do have the relay type switch

Id say The high low relay has failed. Its another case of a stuck / broke wigwag contactor. There is also a chance you may have a lose wire at the relay OR LIKE CAREY SAID A FUSE. But Im betting RELAY!

The stalk switches rarley stick. Not to say they can,t But its very unusial. In the beetles 65 were bad to break off the stalks, 66s were better but could possably stick ,,68 ups were good as gold

On the outside chance you have a floor button, they are pretty tough especaily the early Gm truck ones 51 thru 58 a good common choise for a durable floor switch.
Ron:

My wife used to have an Austin Healey 3000 which had all of three fuses for the entire car. Two were under the Bonnet (hood) and subject to annual crudding up. Every Spring (and sometimes more often if it was particularly humid out) I would take them out, clean them up (pencil erasers seemed to work well) and replace them to get things working again.

Just part of the periodic ritual of owning a British car. I firmly believe that they were all built by Druids.
Heres a Idea. that was spured when Carey said continuity as in varnish!

They make a Diaelectric Varnish used in 200 amp supply pannels . it's just a POSSER. for ya to think on.

If you cleaned the contacts , then dabbed on a touch with a swab and then set the new fuses in. when it dryed would that not seal the connectins from moisture??

Its just a Crazy thought ???? But what do ya think? would road jaring crack it or not??
