What do you guys suggest for headlight and wiper switches? I've been scouting original 356 stuff on eBay, Samba, etc and they are pretty expensive plus knobs are usually missing and replica knobs are also pretty pricey. What's in my car looks like it came from Pep Boys. Any suggestions?

They probably are - silver bumpy plastic knobs? Marines switches are usually quality brass (Cole Hersee) with chromed knobs but go for about $20-25 each.
OE VW 6 volt headlight switch(66 or earlier). Darn near indestructible.
OE wiper switch, any early year, you just need low speed and super low(HA!)
For knobs, I got some nice billet aluminum ones from cip1.com, look great, and inexpensive. I thought the ivory ones available looked like plastic crap.
There are other vendors(Seduction Motorsports for one) that make REALLY nice CNC machined billet knobs and other stuff.
