I saw on a previous posting that someone, I think it was Greg Billesbach, installed the headlight grilles that are supposed to replace the glass without replacing it- rather maintaining the glass in place. Was there a trick to it? What specifically did you do? Does anyone have any details on the technique. I'm looking to do the same thing.

When I first saw the Guard post, I felt sure there was a way to not remove the glass. See if this helps.
Bill- Couldnt open your link.
Tom- see this photo taken at Carlisle.
You need about 33" of 3/16 rod(I'm using brass) and 2pc- 5/8"x2" plus one 5/8" x3" SS sheet metal for each guard.
1) hand form the rod to the HL ring shape. Braze/MIG/TIG the junction (bottom). Grind smooth.
2) " " " mesh " " " " " . Cut the mesh about 1" larger than the ring.
3) see the pic. You'll snip the appropriate strands of mesh which wont be needed to wrap around the ring. The aluminum mesh is variably brittle and some wires need to be "heat softened". Use a disposable lighter!
4) the bottom tab is simply folded in half around the ring and drilled for the HL bottom screw. Note;Get a cobalt bit!!
5) bend the upper 2 mounting tabs around the ring at the 10 - and- 2 o'clock positions. Upon fitment to the HL trim ring you'll determine the right length to cut and bend so it "hooks "inside.
DONE

I took those pictures off, Sorry.
I had the verticle bar headlight stone guards on the Speedster in the photo.
In order have the glass and the guards installed,I used Only the top tab under the chrome bezel of the headlight. I used a spacer at the bottom with a longer bolt to space the guard away from the glass. The whole guard sits at an angle.
I never had a problem with them installed this way.
Check headlight adjustment after installation.
