I had a headlight go out on my 356 replica and put in new sylvania silverstar 9003/hb2 bulbs both sides. when both are on, they are dim. when one is on, it is much brighter. anyone have an idea what i need to do to correct this?
It sounds like you are getting low voltage to your lights. If your meter proves that, a relay usually cures the problem. There have been a few threads about installing relays. A search will show you diagrams, etc.
I'm not positive about this, but, could the filaments / elements be connectec differently to the tabs that plug into the sockets.... Your symptoms sound exactly what I had with my sockets miswired.... My symptoms were, ( low beams OK----Highbeams dim ) On high, the elements were being powered in series in each lamp while things were "normal" on low beams.... Hope this helps...
