My headlights have done a great job of lighting up the nests in the tops of the passenger side trees. I got into them tonight and found the rubber pieces on the screws are gone. The rubber guides on the bottom were not in the slot either. No wonder the tree tops looked so good....By the way----I hate HATE the cheap @$$ crimp connectors. I also found them under the dash when I replaced the radio.

*****I have been MECP Firstclass certified, custom installed stereo systems for 3 shops, custom wiring, custom harnesses, custom fiberglass..... if anyone ever has these pieces of crap on their cars...... GET RID OF THEM.-see 1st pic-*****

Anyways, I have been thinking of trying these Harley headlights. They are affordable enough and if I dont use them on the 356 I will put them in the Ghia. But they look promising and just a slight change from stock while not going to crazy. I can also drop in some LED headlights.

Aaaaaaaaand while I'm at it I will get ride of all the crimps. This winter I will be redoing under the dash and cleaning it all up. Did I say I hate these crimps... I hope to also start running oxygen free wires. This cheap stuff is no good.

Are those the same size as the current VW lights?  Looks interesting. Needless to say the VW lights aren’t the best quality. I retired my to include relays and was able to upgrade to a brighter bulb without melting the wiring.

As far as the adjustment of the lights the inside area of the fiberglass bucket needs to be enlarged slightly so the adjusters don’t rub on the inside of the pocket.

These are 7" as well as having a lip around the outside for retaining clips. Mine does not seem to have the issue of bucket interference. Might have already been taken care of. I did not pay attention to that. Will check next time I'm in.

These are affordable, might grab a set and try them. Heck, why not !!!!

I'm not certified by anybody, but I did AC, DC and comms wiring for the telephone company. Our stuff had to work, like forever, so you tended to take some pride in your work.

I hate crimp connectors also, especially near any lighting or anything possibly exposed to weather. I REALLY hate T-taps, whoever invented them OR uses them anywhere should be smacked.

And that's all they used EVERYWHERE in my new enclosed trailer. I eliminated most of them. The important stuff is fixed already: the main harness inside breakaway battery box, and at the taillights. All that's left is around the inside for the clearance lights. I'm slowly fixing that as I get time.

When you tackle the under-dash, take the seats out. Put some padding down, I used patio furniture chair pads. It's handy to lay everything out and have a helper to get stuff. My wife was a tremendous help for this part of the operation.

Me too. Everything I use nowadays is marine-grade, even when not exposed to weather. Terminals are crimp, but I usually solder my splices, then seal them with marine-grade heat shrink. I use nothing but pure copper stranded wire. Beware, lots of sites are selling copper-clad aluminum. I don't trust that stuff.
